Volunteering and Community Service
A unique component of my personality is revealed when I am involved in giving back to the community. It is when this layer of myself is uncovered that you may see me at my highest potential. I find fulfilment in making personal sacrifices to bring others joy. The volunteer work that I have participated in shall reflect the purest form of my intentions.
Lar Batel Nursing Home
May 2023
During my clinical mission trip to Piracicaba, Brazil, I was able to leave a lasting impact on the residents of a nursing home called Lar Batel. We accompanied the residents from 7 am - 4 pm and completed various activities with them including eating lunch, arts and crafts, cleaning, and also dancing/singing. I chose to personally accompany a resident who suffered from PTSD after losing his wife and child in a car accident years ago. The head of the nursing home told me that the resident had not spoken in years due to the incident; but to my surprise the resident spoke to me in Portugese after just 1 hour of spending time with him. I felt an immediate amount of joy to know that something as little as sitting next to someone meant the world to them.

I am pictured with my peers along with some of the most memorable residents that I was fortunate enough to get to know! In Brazil, people are thriving with less than what we have in America. We often take the things that we have for granted, and I learned to be grateful for everything that I have in life.
2014 - Present
I have been apart of Destiny International Ministries as early as my senior year of high school. As a member of the church, I learned about the word of God and surrendered my life to Jesus Christ. I have been a youth leader in the church since 2014 and I am also apart of "MEN" which is a program within the church that brings men of all ages together on Tuesday nights to learn how to be Men of God. I hope to use my faith during my practice as a physician as an instrument of compassion and understanding toward my patients.

FBH Family Jewels
2012 - Present
FBH Family Jewels is a non-profit organization that was created by my late grandmother, Barbara Mills. Family Based Healing (FBH), strives to heal the community; my grandmother founded this organization due to her passion of being a giver. I participated in the charity work of the organization by helping the elderly or lesser fortunate families reorganize/remodel their homes with the intent to make them feel as if they could live in their dream home. We additionally furnished the homes using funds that were granted to FBH to perform charity work. Working alongside and watching my grandmother lead FBH is what manifested my spirit of selflessness. I now serve as treasure of the organization, since the passing of my grandma in 2021, to oversee and maintain the financial integrity of FBH Family Jewels.
July 2023 - Present
PreMed and Med Student oriented organization that offers mentorship to students of every demographic. We are empowering underrepresented students in medicine to thrive as physicians by practicing inclusivity.
I am serving as the co-committee social media director where I will guide students by using the social platform as a creative instrument to post resourceful information regarding study ideas, mentorship, application help along with the medical school admissions process, shadowing, volunteering, and more!
